It has been one year ever since the devastating Super Typhoon <b>Yolanda </b>has hit the country, the exact dates were November 8, 2014 until November 11, 2014. Now, Filipinos are celebrating life by releasing white balloons into the sky, praying a "thank you" for life, dedicating videos to the victims and even protesting to the lack of services given. The question is, how has Leyte been after one year of recovery?<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
As one of the most strongest super typhoons of the year and even all-time, super typhoon Yolanda (Local name) or <b>Haiyan </b>(International name) has been well known for creating destruction through the southern and central parts of the Philippines with its 230 k/hr to 315 k/hr winds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The strength of the typhoon had affected 1,473,251 families along with a casualty count of 6,193, injured count of 28,689 and a missing count of 1,061 people on estimates. The super typhoon had almost completely destroyed the province and destroyed about 90 percent in only the capitol city of Tacloban. Meanwhile there are still around 4 million people who remain homeless until today.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Each and every person had their own life, their own family and their own aspirations. It is up to the living to continue their name and goals in life as we take a moment to remember their memory and the lives and happiness they have given to others while they were still here. Let us all take time to also thank our Savior God for keeping us, the living safe and protected throughout the unforgettable storm and a thank you to the many people and other countries who aided and assisted the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<b>Celebrating Life</b><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On November 8, 2014, candles filled the streets of the most-affected central Philippines city of Leyte, to honor and remember the over 6,000 victims of super typhoon Yolanda. Before even dawn broke last Saturday, November 8, more than 5,000 people had been holding candles and white balloons as a mournful walk was initiated around the regional capitol, <b>Tacloban City.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Faith has kept the survivors strong, and a year after the catastrophe, church bells still ring clearly as a Roman Catholic mass started at Tacloban's grave site where around 3,000 storm victims are buried on an almost half-hectare grave-site. Although, there are still hundred out there that are still unaccounted for.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The city's mayor, <b>Alfred Romualdez </b>shared his insight on the memorable anniversary.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
"It's important that we make it meaningful, so for the next generations people will remember this," he admitted to Reuters.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTuyz7z8zbgpSR0egpuH1AG-8n-CA0mKER5J_Wz_L0E5p5xG1R6tNDq-IdO44dw-IKHGG1v3vCIdFg_LHIcuPWPuqDlwXXtqgLXB4prSUYleFHqhXhsnQvXxEpTP5tYTxmmYHk5d4dr9E/s400/fff.jpg" style="text-align: center;" width="400" /><br />
<br />
<b>Protesters</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As for protesters, there are hundred of fishermen, farmers, and activists in Tacloban who are crying to the government to provide them with more homes and jobs. Those very protesters have gone so far as burning a nine-foot tall effigy of <b>resident Benigno Aquino </b>wherein they have also accused the administration relating to him for reconstructing and diverting funds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Chairperson of <b>People Surge</b>, a group of Yolanda survivors, <b>Efleda Bautista </b>has shared her own comments about the things they are doing.<br />
<br />
"Our call is justice for the criminal negligence of our president and the government, and we want him to step down," she said.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not only in Tacloban, but also in <b>Manila</b>, there were dozens of <b>Climate Change </b>activists who have marched right near to the Presidential Palace and lit candles in equal solidarity with the typhoon victims.<br />
<br />
<b>Dedications and Leyte: One Year after the Storm</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There have been dedications via pictures, slideshows and music videos and we would love to share a song that has been created for the typhoon victims and how they have, will and can stand up once again. It was posted and shared by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheSidProject" target="_blank">The SID Project</a> who has written and performed the song himself.</div>

so small, he gladly gave up his savings to help those “people who lost their

featuring the catastrophic morning in <b>Tacloban
City, </b>November 8, 2013, when Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan international)
hit central Philippines.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The storm chasers placed themselves in Tacloban City to try
to get into the storm’s eye, however they received the powerful inner core
instead and even ended up rescuing people from the storm as a bonus to their
extraordinary film.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
“As a storm chaser, I always want to get in the cyclone’s
eye. We knew Yolanda’s eye was going to cross the coast south of Tacloban City,
we chose to stay in the city because the storm was so extremely powerful, and
the towns to the south seemed too vulnerable. Although Tacloban City did not
get the calm eye, it did experience the cyclone’s intense inner core, which
passed right over the city.” Morgerman had told reporters.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
The video that Morgerman, Reynolds, and Thomas have produced
is filled with fright from the storm but it also carried the essence of ‘love
and sympathy for the Filipino people and victims of this storm’ as this is
quoted by Morgerman about their video. <o:p></o:p></div>

Pure Devastation from Super Typhoon Haiyan a.k.a. Yolanda, about 10,000 reported dead

5:12 PM Unknown 2

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Category 5 <b>Super Typhoon Haiyan</b> (<b>Yolanda</b> local name) has come and gone with a trail of devastation to the residents of Philippines, especially in <b>Tacloban, Leyte</b> where the typhoon hit the hardest. With gusts of around 275 kph (170 mph), <b>Haiyan</b> was to be the strongest typhoon to be recorded this year and 30th typhoon to hit China this year, around 10,000 people were reported dead by a senior police official on Sunday and many more missing. About 70 to 80 percent of the area in the super typhoon's path was completely destroyed as it ripped through the province of Leyte on Friday, stated by chief superintendent Elmer Soria, regional police director. The city of Tacloban and nearby villages spanning from as far as one kilometer from shore were flooded by these surges carrying tangled trees and wires, debris from homes, and floating bodies.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">What people least expected was that most deaths were caused by water surges full of debris that were created by the powerful typhoon. To have vanquished houses and to have drowned hundreds, the residents described the sea water surges to be similar to a tsunami.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">From the original estimates of 1,000 deaths from Saturday, to 10,000 just recently has been a sharp turn of information as the national government and disaster agency have estimated as so, "We had a meeting last night with the governor and the other officials. The governor said, based on their estimate, 10,000 died," Soria told Reuters. "The devastation is so big." </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Being the forward line to be impacted by the Category 5 and  275 kph (170 mph) winds with heavy rainfall, Tacloban City, Leyte with a population of around 220,000 was hit by possibly the strongest storm to ever make landfall. Good news for Vietnam of Sunday, the storm increasingly weakened by then. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"From a helicopter, you can see the extent of devastation. From the shore and moving a kilometer inland, there are no structures standing. It was like a tsunami," Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas stated,who was in Tacloban even before the storm hit, about 580 km (360 miles) southeast of Manila. "I don't know how to describe what I saw. It's horrific."</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">City officials have also reported that they are having struggles in retrieving dead bodies and sending relief goods to the survivors, and also mentioned widespread looting as they struggled to keep order and communications.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"There is looting in the malls and large supermarkets. They are taking everything even appliances like TV sets, these will be traded later on for food," said Tecson John Lim, the Tacloban city administrator. "We don't have enough manpower. We have 2,000 employees but only about 100 are reporting for work. Everyone is attending to their families."</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lim has also reported that city officials have only collected 300-400 bodies, but as previously stated, the death toll to be 10,000. "The dead are on the streets, they are in their houses, they are under the debris, they are everywhere," he said.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; line-height: 18px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Efren Nagrama, airport manager, said water levels rose up to four meters (13 feet). "It was like a tsunami.
