The Voice of the Philippines Blind Auditions "What's Going On" by Karla Estrada

Former actress and mother of the hottest teen idol of today has taken over the stage of The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 on an episode that had aired last Saturday. The popular woman, by the name of Karla Estrada boomed during the blind auditions singing the hit song of 1992 "What's Going On" which was originally sung by the group 4 Non Blondes.

Before her performance, Estrada had recalled upon her past.

"I started as a singer bago ako naging artista. Back in Tacloban, I was 9 years old. Alam ko na marunong talaga ako kumanta at sumali na ako agad sa mga singing contests," she said.

"Gusto ko talaga, pangarap ko talaga na sumali sa 'The Voice' dahil 'kontesera' ako. Itong competition na ito, ito na 'yung height ng singing contests for me na kailangan kong matupad na salihan," she ended.

He performance had gotten the crowd going wild from cheering as Estrada hit every note perfectly from the low to the high. She even got coach Sarah Geronimo to dance to the song and sing along.

Although she sounded so good, it just wasn't her time to shine in the Competition.

One of the four coaches, coach Lea Salonga had then explained to Estrada, after her performance, of the reason why she didn't turn her chair for her.

"That was good. Sa diction, wala naman problema. But I guess we're looking for something na hindi namin ma-describe. 'Yung mapapatalon ka talaga at mapapapindot sa button," Salonga had explained.

Although Salonga was talking to Estrada face to face in that moment, she failed to recognize who she was and asked Estrada, "What's your name?"

As soon as she realized her mistake, Salonga quickly laughed and hurried over to Estrada to give her a big hug. Salonga also gave Estrada a whisper which she said, "Your son is adorable."

As for Geronimo, she shared her thoughts towards Estrada's personality and strength which portrayed her humility yet also her effort, "What you did was inspiring," she started.

"Yung passion ninyo sa music, hinding hindi mawawala sa iyo. At 'yung humility ninyo para sumali sa competition at maging ready sa kung ano man ang magiging resulta," she added.

The remaining two coaches Apl.de.Ap and Bamboo Mañalac had also shared similar comments towards Estrada.

"Everyone said that it is admirable that you are here, thank you very much for joining us, for understanding what this show is all about," Mañalac commented.

In reply to Mañalac, Estrada said, "Lahat naman tayo pantay-pantay tayo sa pangarap." and she ended with a humble sentence, "No matter who you are, where you are from. Dreams come true. Thank you Lord. I was really waiting for this night. I said no matter what, I just want to experience it and I am so happy."
