Christ Jesus suffered with the people and died with the people when He walked on Earth, He never exalted Himself higher than them although He deserved to most glorious name.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo church in Tacloban, Leyte was untouched by the storm and still stood tall in all the debris created by super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda local name). Yes, it is good for them that they and their church survived the devastating typhoon but a story by a staff member was related to the public.

The wind was still raging, trees were still toppling over, and iron sheets to many homes of fellow Filipinos were flying all over the area, also rain was still pouring when this happened. Filipinos around the area were frightened, cold, wet, hungry and tired while they were instinctively looking for shelter. Everyone’s first thought when it comes to shelter is of course local schools and churches. Nearing the Iglesia Ni Cristo church, fellow victims and Filipino citizens were refused a safe shelter because they were ‘not members of their church’.

The attitude of the church was shocking to hear for all of us. As a fellow citizen and fellow follower of God, we should live life as God would, with love for one another. The church made a perfect impression of the unmerciful innkeepers towards the wonderful news of the birth of Jesus Christ, refusing them. The church took pride for surviving the typhoon, but was it worth it to lose your soul? It is not a house of God when there is no heart of charity and love towards one another, without so, it becomes a house of evil.

During the disaster, a Cathedral in Tacloban, Leyte was destroyed by super typhoon Yolanda and was caught on tape due to the reason that people and media men were taking shelter in the Cathedral when it happened. Many people died due to this catastrophe, and our pride and glory should be in the thought that our Church should be the home for the needy and poor.

  1. You would not see even the INC's OWN brethren trying to seek shelter in that house of worship (or any of the other houses anywhere there was storm) because of its meaning to the members. It is the HOUSE OF GOD. Outsiders who do not understand the sacredness of the place would only seek to benefit from it and not see it as a place of prayer. It is already an established fact that the INC HAS NUMEROUS relief and medical missions which cost MILLIONS OF PESOS. Its like giving your hand, and you want to take the whole arm as well. Be careful of those hurtful comments because you DO NOT understand our reasons. On the outside it may seem snobbish and uncouth, but know that you are the ones taking it out of proportion. Go elsewhere, and take it as civilized people. That CATHEDRAL you prided as a haven, a SHELTER from the storm just FELL. Probabaly taking a whole lot of lives more than walking outside the storm did in the same area. It WAS NOT SAFE AT ALL. Just imagine how much more hateful articles you're going to write about the INC for that uncontrollable incident. Think, people. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. You may be being the DEVIL'S advocate and you don't even realize it.

    2. For humanitarian sake, if you are the pathetic, dirty, hopeless person that survived a once in a lifetime deluge and you saw a perfect place for you to rest and be safe from any form of harm, of course you'll have the tendency to seek help from the people on/inside that place, right? But what if those people refuse to lend you some help? We all know regardless of what religion you belong to that THAT'S NOT RIGHT. No excuses ma'am/sir. Just saying. ;)

    3. Somehow , its TRUE - the incident was uncontrollable , and no one ever imagine the INC church will be a safe place for shelter as well....

    6. We may have different beliefs, we may not be the same it terms of religion, but we are all the people of God.. We are all humans. and in situations like this, what matters most are the people who are greatly affected and in need of help.. I really want to understand INC's reasons, I respect it.. but thinking of those people who can be saved..but were not, really hurts.

    7. if giving out your hand is worth MILLIONS of pesos then is opening your church for shelter is equivalent to an arm?..those are people who are in grave danger..it is only God that can deny access to His house not fellow human beings..it just shows that this church is only willing to help when its convenient..

    11. OH COME ON! hope that would save your soul. you really think that your religion is perfect? by the way, who founded your religion? You said so yourself the INC Church is THE HOUSE OF GOD. If it's the house of GOD then it should be open to the people especially those who are in need. Remember how Jesus considered the church in the bible? How sacred is your church anyway that your "kind of people" wouldn't even open the doors to those people who are seeking for protection? You blasphemes, sons and daughters of stupid bitches.

Are you true believer of God or only a believer of your church? Regardless of what excuse you have God never teach to do such things right!

I am totally disappointed with this church if this truly happens. Is this your true HOUSE OF GOD or what?

Salamat!

    14. You could have used your "house of God" to minister to the people if you have helped and let them in. You could have helped save not just their physical bodies but also their souls. The Kingdom of God on earth is in our hearts, not in some fancy building.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." -Matthew 5:16.

      Matthew 25:40-45
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

I don't have anything against INC even though i have experienced a terrible discrimination from their member as well but i don't consider that as an act of the whole INC people but just one person only. We all know that whatever your religion is that is just wrong!!! All religion has their shares of charity you don't need to defend it as if people are taking advantage of your religion. With that case IF its true that member of yours should be kicked out from your church!! That is just not humane.. It doesn't matter if you have donated billions and trillions because other churches have donated the same value as you are describing!!! and yet they welcome people in times of catastrophic event.. I hope you understand the difference of what i am saying!! Wait a minute are you sure that your church have helped so much people does that include OTHER PEOPLE with DIFFERENT religion or your church as you describe it so holy helped YOUR MEMBERS ONLY!!!

If we are to look Jesus in every person that went there to ask for help, then, INC people will be guilty of what the Lord had said in HIS WORD, "Away from me, you doers of evil. I do not know you. For when I was hungry, you did not feed me. When I was sick you did not comfort ME." (my paraphrased) . If I am a member of this religious organization, I will think twice, three times or a hundred times if what is being taught is the TRUTH and if they are serving the GOD of BIBLE or just their belly. Even an INC member will never go there to seek refuge because they know it is sacred and they have been indoctrinated by INC teachings. INC member will rather choose to die outside. I am sure one time, you were invited to the chapel to listen to their doctrine sa kanilang PAMAMAHAYAG and I am pretty sure also many times tumanggi kayo. MArami kayong dahilan. Ganun din ako dati. Hahaha. I was born a catholic. Then why now, na nasa peligro kayo,eh pupunta kayo doon to seek refuge. Sabihin ko sa inyo, maghintay kayo, when the time comes na the chosen ones will be lifted up dahil parating na ang impiyerno or paghuhukom and most people will try to board but they will be refused because they were not the chosen ones. When that happens, I may be refused as well because I may not be the chosen one. That is nothing. Sa pagdating ng paghuhukom masisira kahit ang kapilya na iyan at anumang bagay sa lupa pero may isang invincible vessel that will accomodate all chosen ones. Everybody will try to board but only few will be allowed. Maliwanag ba mga kapatid?

    29. THIS COMMENT'S BULLSHIT, you're just saying that because you're a member of the organization and your judgement is bias for them. We don't care if you help by donating relief goods, for what is the use of that if the people you're donating to just died? Think of it. Your comment just made your organization look even worse. It's so stupid, you think of it as a house of worship, fine, but then, a church is known to be where lives are saved, not only by hearing the word of God, it can serve as anything that helps everyone, but what you people did there was just selfish. You just deprived the church from the chance of saving those poor people. It's just stupid, seriously.

    30. WOW, and that's the reason? Because your church already gave millions worth of goods/help, your sacred building is CLOSED for people who needs help??? Who's counting how much to give? So what if the Cathedral fell? We are not like you who forced people to give 10% that's why our church is just relying on the people's donations. God doesn't care about buildings. He cared about people. What if you're that person who knocked and you're being denied of help?

Jesus Christ didn't even built a steady tangible structure to call a place of worship..The temple of worship is our heart...what's the use of maintaining a fancy building when you can't maintain a pure heart?

I would like to give my deepest sympathy to all the victims of this calamity, we are all affected by this incident, i too have relatives that are missing in Samar and relatives of friends but God has plans so we should trust His plans for us. Let us all believe in His promise that never again will He doom the earth because of man. So instead of arguing about this we should all do something to help and be united. Let's all find an org or foundation that could help us extend our hands to our fellow filipino. With this being said i would like to thank the Lord for all of you. 36. Let me reimage the situation here.
Lets say people are stuck and needing help in the middle of the ocean. And you have that church in the middle of all the needy souls. Which will you choose, the sacredness of the place you hold for a God who you are not even sure of that exists, or the life of the people that exists and may cease to exist if you deny them. Which will you choose? Your belief? Or your humanity? All people commenting about how sacred that place is, as from what other people said, there is no sacredness in a place who knows no unconditional charity. You cam always rebuild another church. But you can never rebuild a lost life. So before you comment about the holiness of the place created by man. I think you should consider first the being which was created by God. So for the comment I red about how sacred your church is. I say bullshit. Im no atheist of some sort. But this kinds of situation is why I dont like religion that much.

  64. This is false information because the picture of the FB post is from Iloilo. While the picture of this church is in Leyte. Which is two islands away from each other.

  65. Hello everyone! Please, try to come to know first the truth before judging and saying hurtful words which are not needed because of the made up/untrue story of someone who are trying to ruin one's reputation especially the INC's(Iglesia Ni Cristo or Church of Christ) as a whole as bad as that person wanted all people to know all over the world that the Iglesia Ni Cristo people are bad, selfish, no love for others especially to needy people and ungodly. We hope that this might enlighten all of us to stop saying and exchanging hurtful words. We must help, love, respect and have compassion for each other. So please, take time to find the people involved(on Facebook account of Liaa Marie Espinosa-Tobias, Yra Poots and Emjay Dumol Castillo), analyse the situation, what have been said by the people involved and what had happened. Arguing with hurtful words or judging someone will not help in any way without knowing the truth. So please, we must all have peace and love one another like our Lord Jesus loves anyone of us.

  73. Cult is always a cult there are many cults that claim that they are jesus christ and mormon's creepy mass. I'll always be born again and I'd rather die than to listen a founder's words of wisdom. God and Jesus Christ is whom I will listen too. I will believe jesus christ in my own little way as long I kept this deep inside my heart that I ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS MY PERSONAL SAVIOR. The End :3
