In Australia, a huge
snake and crocodile gave an amazing show of a battle between the two and a life
and death ending to shocked onlookers.
Witness Travis Corlis watched the battle at Queensland’s Lake Moondarra which is
located near a mining town names Mount
Isa. The amazing sight between the huge snake, thought to be a python that
was about 10 feet (3 meters) and a crocodile about 3 feet long.
The snake has first
coiled around the crocodile while the two had their battle in the water.
"They had quite
the struggle in the water," Travis told AFP. "It was an ongoing
battle. We were just standing there in amazement watching it."
According to what
Travis saw, he said that around five hours after the encounter began, he
noticed the snake had pulled the crocodile onto the edge of the lake where it
was then released by the snake in a state of death.
The snake then
devoured his prey where Travis described it as, "About 10 minutes later
the crocodile was gone," where he referred to the time of the crocodile
being devoured by the snake.
His wife, Tiffany on
the other hand was just as amazed and described the feat at “just
unbelievable”.
"We were sort of
thinking that the snake had bitten off a little more than it could chew,"
she added as she told the Australian
Broadcasting Corporation.
"But it did. It
actually ate the crocodile. When you actually looked at the snake, you could
actually see the crocodile's ridges, legs and everything inside its
belly." She added.
Tiffany continued to
describe the battle between the crocodile and snake as she said that the
crocodile had struggled to keep his head above the water. Although both animals
were exhausted, "finally, the croc sort of gave in,” she said.
Travis has stated that
crocodiles and snakes are actually a common in the area, but he had never
experienced a battle between two in such a way.
Freshwater crocodiles
are known to be a common residence to Lake Moondarra while Travis stated that a
recent drought has made the level to the lake drop and made the crocodiles more
visible.
"I think it might
just have been nature at its best," he said.
