The
second big screen film for the hot team-up couple of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim or
‘KimXi’ with “Bride for Rent” has been a blast for the box office ever since the
release of the movie on January 15. This Saturday, the popular movie hit its
P100million mark which has just been four days after release.
The
amazing figure was announced just on Saturday night by Star Cinema executive Roxy
Liquigan noted that the income feat was impressive considering the date and
month that the movie was played. Reports also say that the tickets for the
movie are usually always sold out in many malls.
"Sobra
kaming thankful and we're so happy na maraming nanood on its first day, and
sana marami pang manood," Kim stated to ABSCBNnews.com on Thursday when she was asked for a reaction
towards the new of their film’s earning og P21.2million during the first day.
"And not just sa mga fans namin, kundi sa
mga normal moviegoers, maraming salamat. Nanood talaga sila ng movie, at kahit
'yung mga hindi nanonood ng Tagalog movies, nanood sila this time. So we're so
happy, and so thankful!" She added.
Comparing
to Kim and Xian’s last romantic comedy film, “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?” last year, it took over two
weeks before their sales reached P100 million.
“Bride
for Rent” is the hottest new romantic comedy film which is directed by Mae Czarina Cruz and written by Carmi Raymundo.
The
films revolves around the life of Rocky
(Kim) who frantically searches for a job where she ends up at an audition
which is held by Rocco (Xian) where
he is actually looking for a woman who can be his pretend wife in the hopes of
gaining access to his trust fund.
Rocky
doesn’t have much of a choice as the pressure of her family’s eviction in their
rented home is at stake. She then takes up the role unknowing that it soon
becomes a long-term act.
“Bride
for Rent” also stars Dennis Padilla,
Martin del Rosario, Pilita Corrales, Matt Evans, Tirso Cruz III and Empoy.
