During the 53rd edition of the
awaited Miss International pageant
on December 17, 2013 at Shinagawa Prince
Hotel Hall, Tokyo, Japan, the competition of a lifetime for Miss Bea Rose Santiago will be happening as
she will strut her stuff with grace, beauty, and brains as she represents the
Filipino beauty of the Philippines. Miss International 2012 Ikumi Yoshimatsu of Japan will be crowing
her successor this year, will it be our Miss Bea Rose?
Philippines has proven their success and
beauty through the year as two crown-winning queens from Philippines has
emerged this year; Miss Supranational
2013 Mutya Johanna Datul and Miss
World 2013 Megan Young. Not only that but Ariella Arida has proven her best as she placed third runner-u
during the Miss Universe 2013 pageant.
Where will Bea Rose Santiago place?
During Bea Rose’s send-off arty in
November, she stated that she is going to do her best to win the Miss
International title not only for her sake of a third win, but to give the
typhoon-affected people in the Visayas a reason to smile. According to critics
and beauty experts alike, Bea Rose is already faring well in the competition as
she is one of the prettiest in the batch and is believed to be very prepared.
If Bea Rose wins, she will be the fifth
Miss International from the Philippines, and continue on in the line of success
for the Philippines which continues to be one of the most successful Asian
country in the Miss International pageant so far. With Miss International
winners, the Philippines is right behind Venezuela with four winners and six
winners respectively.
A history of wins for the Philippines
starts with Gemma Teresa Cruz in
1964 as her win made the Philippines the first Asian to win the Miss
International title. Followed by Aurora
Pijuan’s win in 1970 and Melanie
Marquez’s in 1979 where she became the youngest Miss International winner
at the young age of 15. The latest winner of the Philippines is Precious Lara Quigaman during 2005
where she broke the 26-year drought. It has been eight years since then, what
will happen this year?
Stress and pressure has been loaded on Bea
Rose as her win is a necessity for the Philippines if they are to remain as the
top ranking pageant country over others and a give Venezuela a fight as they
have been declared the ‘home of beautiful people’ in terms of the pageant scene
especially since Miss Earth Venezuela had been crowned as Miss Earth 2013 just
a week ago.
As she has already won over 46 beautiful
ladies during the Binibining Pilipinas Gold pageant earlier this year, the
battle against 71 beautiful ladies from all around the world seems like a big
jump, but with the support of her fans and fellow countrymen, she will be
strong in the competition.
About Bea Rose Santiago
Born in Cataingan, Masbate, Bea Rose Monterde Santiago is a Filipino beauty
titleholder whom at the age of 15 with her family moved to Canada where she
became a model and the only Filipino to be under Elite Model Management. Raised by her grandparents and oldest of
her three siblings, she has been in the pageant scene for a while now.
