Just today, December 17, 2013 we are proud to say that the Philippines is still strong with their winning streak as Miss Bea Rose Santiago who has represented Philippines during Miss International 2013 has been crowned as the winner of the Miss International 2013 pageant held at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo.

Before Santiago had received her crowing, she had given a final statement to everyone around the world which was full of thanks to every individual who has stood and been supporting the Philippines throughout the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan as she had given a calling for unity to all nations, "If I win the crown, I will help promote camaraderie among countries," she said.

During the Question and Answer portion her complete answer was,  

"The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other. If I win the crown, I will help promote camaraderie among countries. I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope."

Joining her in the Top 3 are Miss Netherlands where she placed first runner-up and Miss New Zealand with second runner-up.

The countries who have made the Top 15, in nor particular order, are: Colombia, Ecuador, New Zealand, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Gibraltar, Netherlands, Iceland, Thailand, Hungary, Spain, United States, Lithuania, Russia and Brazil.

For the Philippines, this is a wonderful year as Miss International is the 3rd major pageant to be won by the Philippines which includes the wins by Mutya Datul as Miss Supranational and Megan Young as Miss World. Santiago is also the 5th Philippines representative to receive the crown of Miss International with the other winners of Gemma Teresa Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), and Precious Lara Quigaman (2005).
