As their way of stretching out a helping out to the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda, the country’s three major mobile phone operators, Sun Cellular, Globe Telecom, and Smart Communications, have all agreed to provide users with 25 free SMS per day for five days which are also able to be used not only locally, but internationally as well.

The three operators have created this offer in their response to the super typhoon’s devastation it left behind. Along with their helpful offer they are also active in working to restore their services and assist in emergency relief activities of humanitarian agencies and of the government.

Charles A. Lim, the chief operating officer of Digital Mobile Philippines and executive vice president of Smart has said, “This is a time for Filipinos to come together and help our countrymen in their hour of great need. This joint effort will help Smart, Sun Cellular and Talk ‘N Text subscribers in the typhoon-struck areas to communicate with their loved ones at home and abroad.”

“This free service is open to all Globe Postpaid, Globe Prepaid, and TM subs in these Eastern Visayas provinces. This is the company’s way of giving assistance to our customers who are suffering from the typhoon’s onslaught and who need to reach out to their family and friends in the country and abroad,” stated Peter Bithos, Chief Operating Advisor for Globe Consumer Business Group.

The gracious offer will be available to the subscribers in Tacloban City and provinces of Samar, Antique, Capiz, Leyte, Aklan, and northern Cebu.

Available from November 13 to 17, the free 25 daily SMS bundles can be used to send text messages to all networks and be able to text international SMS. The offer will be automatically pushed to subscribers during the start of each day, the subscribers will then receive SMS notifications after the bundles are sent and no registration is required.

For Globe and TM subscribers, the free service can be availed by texting BangonPinoy to 8888.
