According to Philippine Inquirer, Devina gets fired from her job as an assistant
teacher from a school which is ironically run by Filipino supervisors. A
reliable source gave information that Devina was fired just days after her
Facebook status about Megan Young’s victory.
As a responder to the report, Miss World Philippines
organizer Cory Quirino said that
"despite the racial slur against Filipinos and Megan, we at Miss World
Philippines regret the fact that Devina DeVida's actions were done at the cost
of losing her job." She said and added in an obvious fact, "It is a
classic case of karma at work," she added.
Manchester
University clears up Devina DeDiva was never a Student in their University:
As being held
allegedly associated with Devina DeDiva
by her profile, Manchester University
(Indiana USA) cleared up the facts by releasing a statement that Devina was
never a student in their establishment.
Manchester
University was mistakenly accused of being associated with Devina and reacted
right away saying that no student named Devina DeDiva went to school there and
their university would never tolerate such insensitive actions.
Confirming the
information that she did not go to school there, Manchester quotes where they
stand, “Manchester University stands as a place of
differences where the community engages in respectful dialogue cultivating
individual beliefs and values. In our accepting community, the racist comments
made by this individual would not be tolerated as respectful.”
Megan Young Defended by Precious Lara Quigaman
Former Miss International 2005, Precious Lara Quigaman defends Megan
Young from Devina DeDiva’s Facebook comments by suspecting the Singapore-based
Indian just wanted to grab attention.
“I read her Facebook page…
[Perhaps] she did that because she knew that Filipinos supported each other and
… maybe thought she’d gain followers and/or haters by attacking Megan. We
should just dismiss her and not give her the fame that she craves.” She says.
Another comment by Lara was how she praised Oversea Filipino Workers (OFWs). “We are a country of beautiful,
smart and loving maids, nurses, teachers, doctors and beauty queens… No one can
take that away from us.” She said.
